Survey question generator
Describe your research goal: the AI writes a structured questionnaire — screening question, funnel order, consistent scales, open questions — ready to field.
Survey ready. Not keen on waiting for 200 real answers?
Panelia answers it in 10 minutes with a synthetic panel calibrated on real consumer patterns — test your concept, your price, your message.
How to generate your survey questionnaire
- 1Describe the goal of your survey in one or two sentences (10 to 400 characters).
- 2Pick the survey type, the number of questions (5, 10 or 15), the tone and the target market.
- 3Run the generation: the first questions appear immediately, each with its methodological rationale.
- 4Leave your email to unlock the full questionnaire and the CSV, JSON and PDF exports.
Why questionnaire quality decides study quality
A survey is only as good as its questions. A double-barreled question (“do you find the product useful and easy to use?”) produces answers you cannot interpret; a leading question (“how much do you love our new interface?”) manufactures the result you wanted to hear; a scale that flips direction halfway through exhausts respondents. None of these defects can be fixed at analysis time: the data is polluted at the source.
This generator applies the rules research agencies drill into their analysts: one idea per question, Likert scales that stay consistent from start to finish, funnel ordering (general to specific), a screening question up front to filter out off-target respondents, and a balance between closed questions — comparable — and open ones — rich. Every question ships with its rationale, so you know why it earns its place.
What this tool generates (and its limits)
From your goal, the model produces a complete questionnaire: a title, an introduction text for your respondents, 5 to 15 typed questions (single choice, multiple choice, Likert, rating, NPS, open) with their options and scales, and an estimated completion time. Export it as CSV to import into your fielding tool, as JSON for your scripts, or as PDF for sign-off.
A generated questionnaire is a starting point: re-read every question with your knowledge of the field, adapt the vocabulary to your audience, and above all pilot it on a few respondents before fielding. That is exactly what Panelia does: it has a calibrated synthetic panel answer your questionnaire in minutes, so you can catch ambiguous questions and pre-validate hypotheses before paying for real fieldwork.
One questionnaire per market, not a translation
The “target market” field does not translate your questionnaire: it writes it for that market. Politeness conventions, familiar scales and relevant examples differ between Paris, Berlin and Madrid. Generate one version per target market and compare: the wording differences already tell you where your study will need adapting, well beyond language.
Frequently asked questions
- What makes a good survey questionnaire?
- One that produces usable data: a single idea per question, no leading wording, consistent scales, funnel ordering, a screening question up front and a mix of closed and open questions. That is exactly the structure this tool generates.
- How many questions should my survey have?
- As few as your goal allows: 5 questions for a quick pulse, 10 for a standard study, 15 for a deep exploration. Beyond that, drop-off rises fast — every question must earn its place.
- What is a screening question?
- A question asked at the very start to check the respondent belongs to your target (usage, frequency, role). It keeps off-target answers out of your results — the tool always places one in first position.
- Is the tool really free?
- Yes. The first questions are visible without giving anything. Your email unlocks the full questionnaire and the exports (CSV, JSON, PDF), within a limit of 3 generations per day.
- Can I generate a survey in another language?
- Yes: pick the target market (France, international, Spain, Italy, Germany…) and the questionnaire is written in that market's language, whatever the interface language.
- How do I field the survey once generated?
- Export it as CSV to rebuild it in your survey tool (Typeform, Google Forms…), as JSON for integrations, or as PDF for sign-off. And if you want answers right now: Panelia runs it past a calibrated synthetic panel in 10 minutes.
